[/blockquote][/blockquote]Fae. Vampires. Shapeshifters.
These are the things of fairytales and nightmares. The ones you feared or wished to be as a small child; the shadows moving within your closet, beneath your bed. But as you grew, the same shadows became that of occasional laughter, soon forgotten.
But, think- what if they were real? Would you believe me if I said that they were? If not, my dear human, then I suggest you take a look at where most of these creatures hide. Peer closely at your high school teacher, the faint grace to his every movement, his clear hunting gaze. Perhaps it is a sure sign of an Old One, a fae in hiding. Or maybe your old boyfriend. You know the one. He was always a bit too affectionate with your neck. Perhaps he was also one of their kind.
Believe me now? Are you thinking clearly yet? I assure you, they are all around. They live amongst us, holding tightly to the mask of humanity, when the sun hangs high in the sky. But as it falls below the horizon, that's when their true nature comes to play. When the things you feared as a child become those you once thought you could trust. That which was legend to you was truth all along. But alas, the human race- the poor little fools!- lives in a perfect state of ignorance. They still believe the secret races to be nothing more than fairytale and legend. To them we are nothing more than a child's humor and fantasy.
But everyone knows there's a grain of truth to every legend, right? Let me tell you a secret. A story. A legend!
The humans have forgotten the truth, repressed the times in which the fae still ruled and the humans were but slaves beneath their powerful grasps. They've forgotten the great land of Valendreth and it's fallen kingdoms. But I? Why, I shall tell you the truth of the matter. Are you sure you're ready for this?
Valendreth was once a prosperous land, ruled by the fae and other creatures of legend. Many centuries ago, the green lands thrived with power. The Royals, the kings and queens of the fae, held great talents, their powers descended from the first fae. But with every trace of good, the must come a great evil. A terrible war to shake their nation and to send a race into extinction.
It started with the Fae Queen of Fire, and The Outcast to Sithis, a man who found destruction in ice. His deadly desire for the power to rule caused the first war of Valendreth. For he wanted the Fae Queen under his command, to combine their powers and force all beneath him into slavery. But the Fae Queen fought against his whims, and so they fell. The first territory of valendreth was destroyed, partly by her own hands.
After the first war, and the fall of their brother, The Outcasts soon sparked a rebellion. From the shadows they came and the kingdoms soon fell. As chaos and confusion held strong through the lands, many fae fell. Soon they were outnumbered. When the great fires turned to embers and the once great castles were nothing but ruins, it was the humans who took control.
With The Outcasts dead and the few remaining fae in hiding, the humans took to rebuilding, outnumbering all the races left beihnd. With power in numbers, they have long since forgotten their days of slavery. It is now the fae and their followers who are the salves hiding behind human masks. But they are still there, waiting, immortal creatures that they are. The old Speakers, the guardians of The Royals, still go on, waiting for their kings and queens to arise again. They lay in wait, watching for the moment the Fires of Life are resurrected.
But The Outcasts are also on the verge of being reborn. Some have even been in hiding all these years for the moment to destroy all in their path. They wish to rule once and for all.
Oh, yes. The Old Ones will arise again. And the war to come with shake the human race. All it's foundations will soon be laid to rest.
